01 / What category is this?

Customs recovery software for the organisations that pay the duty.

Not a C285 form filler. Not a recovery broker. Not a black-box “AI finds your money” product. Munire Customs is the operating system for declaration analysis, investigation, evidence, claim construction, governance and HMRC correspondence — whether you run it on your own imports or across a client book.

02 / The operating lifecycle

Nine stages. One controlled process.

This is the work of customs recovery. Munire Customs is the system that holds it together — with provenance, authority and human accountability preserved at every step.

  1. 01OnboardCompanies House search → company verification → EORI validation → client creation → authority → bank/refund details → CDS agreement → readiness score.
  2. 02ImportBring in HMRC/CDI or CDS declaration files. Source facts remain sealed and attributable.
  3. 03AnalyseRun declaration populations through structured, explainable checks. Prioritise what needs professional attention.
  4. 04InvestigateReview line-level calculations and supporting evidence. A flag is not a conclusion.
  5. 05DecideHuman reviewer determines whether an issue is valid, informational, or closed. Named sign-off required.
  6. 06BuildGenerate the appropriate claim (C285 or C&E1179) and evidence pack under controlled templates.
  7. 07GovernApproximately 20 readiness conditions — authority, signatory, bank identity, limitation period, duplicates, evidence completeness — must pass before submission.
  8. 08RecoverTrack HMRC correspondence and outcomes. Repayments remain between HMRC and the entitled recipient.
  9. 09BillApply the firm’s own fee arrangement (percentage, minimum, maximum, retainer, WIP). Invoice and reconcile. Munire takes none of the recovery.

03 / Who it is for

Built for importers who want the saving and the control.
Also the operating system for intermediaries.

Most of the potential users are importers. Munire Customs lets them review what was filed, run the claim process themselves, and keep any reclaim. Intermediaries get the same engine inside an end-to-end workflow for running a client book.

Importers

The saving, and the control

The potential saving is the duty and import VAT you recover — without a success fee or an adviser cut of the repayment. The control is that your team manages the analysis, the evidence, the claim and the outcome. Known monthly price. Recoveries stay with you.

Intermediaries

End-to-end workflow and client management

Onboarding, authority, analysis, claims, evidence, correspondence and your own fees — across a portfolio of importers, in one governed workspace. Your firm owns the relationships and commercial terms. Munire supplies the application.

Importers & in-house teams

Own the process, keep the outcome

Finance, trade and compliance teams run CDS analysis, evidence and C285 / C&E1179 on their own EORI. Fixed software cost. Any reclaim stays with the organisation that paid the duty.

Brokers & forwarders

Freight & customs intermediaries

Review the declarations your operation submits, surface recurring failure patterns, and keep a documented investigation trail across clients.

Recovery practices & advisers

Client management as the product

Run the full practice workflow: onboarding, authority, claims, evidence and firm billing, without assembling it from spreadsheets.

If you are the importer

The subscription is the whole cost of the process

£650 + VAT per organisation / month, 2 named users. That is the price of the analysis, the claim process and the record. What HMRC repays is not shared with Munire — and not shared with an intermediary unless you choose one.

If you act for clients

The workflow is the advantage

White-label packs, client isolation, readiness gates and your own fee billing. Charge percentage, retainer or advisory WIP — those terms are yours. Munire charges you only for the software.

04 / The commercial model

Munire does not take a share of the reclaim.
Importers keep the saving. Intermediaries keep the practice.

Charge clients however you choose, or run the process yourself. Munire charges for the software, not for your success.

No recovery share

Munire takes none of the HMRC repayment

Repayments remain between HMRC and the entitled recipient. There is no Munire percentage, success fee or deduction from recovery.

No per-claim SOW

No separate statement of work per claim

The subscription covers the application. You do not negotiate claim-by-claim commercial terms with Munire.

Firm billing

Your fees, configured in the system

Percentage fees, minimums, caps, retainers, WIP and invoices live inside the workspace — explicitly separate from HMRC recoveries.

Clear price

2 named users. That is the whole software price. Cloud now; sovereign deployment discussed separately.

06 / The clock is already running

Eligible overpayments generally have a three-year repayment window.

Each month that passes can cause another month’s declarations to fall outside the recovery period. That is real urgency — not a fabricated trial countdown. Limitation period is one of the readiness gates.

The clock

Three years from payment

HMRC’s general limit for overpayment claims is three years. Once a declaration ages past that window, the recovery opportunity is gone.

The cost of delay

Every month erodes the population

A firm that waits six months before reviewing a client’s declarations has already lost six months of potential recoveries.

Rejected imports

Often shorter still

C&E1179 rejected-import claims typically have a one-year limit. Different routes, different clocks.

What Munire does

Surface the deadline before it expires

The application helps organisations review declaration populations while recovery is still possible.
